(Because every mother thinks her kids are more amazing than all the others, right?)
Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
Psalm 127:3-4
I was blessed with two children that I got to carry for the requisite 9 months and thoroughly enjoy from the moment they existed. Over the years I have accumulated so many more, but let’s talk about these two first.

As a fairly young mom of 23, I knew nothing. At least, that’s what I think now. Then, I thought I knew everything. My daughter taught me the minute she was born that love at first sight is so very real. Until then, I had no idea that you could take one look at a little pink face and know you would love this person deeply and forever.
When my son came along a few years later their bond was immediate. He was so different in personality and demeanor, and they complement each other perfectly. Through the years they have taught me so much more than I have taught them. Patience, kindness, humility, pride in a job well done. They love with their whole hearts.

After divorce and years of singlehood, I have been fortunate enough to find (again) my first real love. To add to the blessing, he came with two amazing daughters! Blended families aren’t for wimps. This is “advanced parenting by proxy,” and it’s not easy. I’m not the easiest person to live with, and neither are they, but we made it work and now I look at them and realize that they are just what I need. They are kind-hearted, generous, sarcastic, beautiful, funny and weird. In other words, they fit right in to my family.
The Other Kids
My children have brought me so many more over the years. After a while, I became “MommyLiz” to more children than I can count. They are all loved and accepted and know that they can talk to me about anything, no judgement.
They have blessed me with impromptu visits, at interesting times of the day and night, big hugs when they see me on the street and being able to wonder over the beauty of their little families as they get started in the world.
That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace
Psalm 144:12
With the four children I’ve been given and the ones they have brought me, I have discovered that we have an infinite capacity for love. We were made that way.
1 Corinthians 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
