Gods timing is always perfect. To quote my husband, “If you want to get used to something, get used to that because it’s never going to change.”
Today we were in the right place at the right time. My friend’s sweet daughter was driving her car and a deer ran out and crashed into the rear door. There was nothing she could have done to avoid it, this was completely out of her control.
When it happened, she did EVERYTHING right – she pulled off, put on her flashers, called her dad, and waited in the vehicle with her seatbelt on. We were minutes away, my daughter was a couple minutes behind her, and her dad was able to pick up her siblings.
Now, we don’t live near them – we normally wouldn’t have been there, but had been invited to a family event. We were able to go get her, and her mom and I took care of her while my hubby and our daughter got the car home.
Was she freaked out? Well, duh. But did she do it right? Absolutely. Are we infinitely grateful that she wasn’t hurt and that we were able to help? Ohmygoodness, are we grateful!
As her mom said, “What other day could this have happened that all the help was available and able to respond so quickly?” Only God could have arranged that. Bad, scary things ARE going to happen, BUT GOD puts things in place that help us negotiate the trials of this life.

I have a LOT of favorite scriptures, but one that has really struck home for me is Psalm 27:14 “Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!” This Psalm of David is labeled as “an exuberant declaration of faith,” and begins in verse 1 with “The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?”
I love that David opens with what feels like a loud, boisterous declaration of his undeniable faith, and closes with the encouragement that God’s timing is worth waiting for. If we will stay on the path and allow Him to work in our lives, He will bring us so much more than we could have imagined for ourselves!
